7 Nights / 8 Days
The journey begins as you drive away from the bustling streets of Chandigarh into the tranquil lap of Himachal. The road to Narkanda, via Shimla, offers views of pine forests, apple orchards, and charming mountain hamlets. Spend the evening relaxing amidst the crisp mountain air of Narkanda.
After breakfast, set off for Kalpa, a peaceful village in the Kinnaur district known for its spectacular views of the Kinner Kailash range. En route, you’ll pass through Reckong Peo, the district headquarters. By evening, arrive in Kalpa and enjoy a serene sunset over the snow-capped peaks.
This leg of the journey enters the Spiti Valley. As the terrain becomes rugged and arid, you'll feel like you're entering another world. Reach Tabo by evening and explore the 1000-year-old Tabo Monastery, often called the ‘Ajanta of the Himalayas.’
Visit the dramatic Dhankar Monastery, perched on a cliff overlooking the confluence of Spiti and Pin rivers. Continue the scenic drive into Pin Valley National Park and arrive in Kaza, the commercial hub of Spiti Valley. Overnight stay in Kaza.
Explore the high-altitude villages of Langza (famous for fossils), Hikkim (home to the world’s highest post office), and Komik (one of the highest motorable villages). Return to Kaza for the night, absorbing the mystique and beauty of Spiti's barren landscape.
After breakfast, drive toward the magical crescent-shaped Chandratal Lake. En route, cross the rugged Kunzum Pass and reach the lake, nestled in a valley of dreams. Spend the night in camps near the lake under the starry Spitian sky.
Begin your journey back via Batal and Gramphu to reach Manali. This stretch includes some of the roughest roads, offering a true taste of Spiti’s remote charm. Check into your hotel and enjoy the comforts of civilization once again.
It’s time to head home. Drive through the scenic Kullu Valley, back to Chandigarh, with memories of barren deserts, timeless monasteries, and the warm people of Spiti etched in your heart forever.
