Head out early and travel through Sonmarg, cross Zoji La Pass, and stop at Drass, the second coldest inhabited place. Pay respects at the Kargil War Memorial. Reach Kargil and check into your hotel. It’s a route that offers raw beauty and deep history.
Drive from Kargil to Leh through the magnetic landscapes of Lamayuru Monastery, Fotu La, and Nimmoo Sangam (confluence of Zanskar and Indus rivers). Upon arrival, rest and let your body acclimatize to Leh’s altitude.
Explore Leh’s cultural gems – Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa, and Shey & Thiksey Monasteries. Visit the Hall of Fame Museum and local bazaars for souvenirs. Evening at leisure to enjoy cafés and Ladakhi hospitality.
Take a thrilling drive over Khardung La Pass – one of the world’s highest motorable roads – and explore Nubra Valley’s sand dunes. Ride a double-humped camel and visit Diskit Monastery. Return to Leh for the night.
You can choose to fly out from Leh or opt for a 1-day extension to Pangong Lake before departure. Either way, you end your journey with unforgettable mountain memories.
