Arrive in Amritsar and check in to your hotel. Begin your spiritual journey by visiting the Golden Temple (Sri Harmandir Sahib) – the holiest shrine in Sikhism. Spend time soaking in the peaceful atmosphere, walking around the sacred Amrit Sarovar, and listening to devotional Kirtan. Don’t miss the Akal Takht Sahib and Guru Ka Langar, which serves free meals to all visitors. In the evening, witness the beautiful Palki Sahib ceremony, where the Guru Granth Sahib is carried to the sanctum with devotion. Overnight stay in Amritsar.
After breakfast, visit Jallianwala Bagh, a historical site commemorating the 1919 massacre. Then explore the Partition Museum or take a short walk in the local bazaars for souvenirs. In the afternoon, head to the Wagah Border to witness the thrilling Beating Retreat Ceremony, where Indian and Pakistani soldiers perform a ceremonial flag lowering ritual. After dinner, board a night train or private vehicle to Katra, the base town for the Vaishno Devi Yatra. Overnight journey.
Arrive in Katra early morning and check in to your hotel for freshening up. Begin your trek to Vaishno Devi Temple, which is around 13 km uphill (you may also choose pony, palki, or battery car services). Along the way, chant mantras and take in the divine energy of the hills. Offer your prayers at the sacred cave shrine of Vaishno Mata Ji. If time permits, visit Bhairon Baba Temple, located a little further uphill. After darshan, return to Katra and rest. Overnight stay in Katra.
After breakfast and rest, check out from your hotel. You can choose to drive or take a train back to Amritsar for your return journey or depart directly from Jammu Railway Station or Jammu Airport, depending on your travel plans. Carry with you the blessings of Vaishno Mata and the divine experiences of Amritsar.
